and offers a variety of textbooks, computers, and other course materials to help prepare
students for success. Open to the community, the bookstore also provides a selection
of general reading books, a café that serves Starbucks drinks, and an assortment of
collegiate products ranging from apparel to novelty items. |

| Honors Program |
The Honors Program is designed to challenge students and provide opportunities for
creative exploration and intellectual development. The program requires motivated
students to fulfill between 12 and 24 hours of honors designated courses, including
the option to complete a senior thesis. There is also a non-thesis option. Honors
courses are available in the general education core, as separate courses, and in upper-division
courses in the various majors. |

| President's Emerging Leaders Program (PELP) |
Students selected for the President's Emerging Leaders Program (PELP) exemplify the
vision and values of Austin Peay State University and our program by striving for
academic excellence and putting service above self. Twenty incoming freshman students
are chosen each year to attend four years of training in leadership. The selection
process involves an application, some brief essays, a letter of recommendation, and
an interview with the director of the program and some of the current students. Those
selected for participation in the program receive an annual scholarship of $3,000
which is renewable for a four-year period. |
