Overview of the Austin Peay Experience Grant

As part of The Austin Peay Experience, students may receive an Experience Grant.

The value of the grant is up to $2,000 for internships, study abroad, education abroad, study away, research, a service trip, or for a project of your own. Maybe you learned something in class that piqued your interest that you want to explore further, you attended a campus event that inspired you, or read an article that intrigued you. Eligibility*

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Austin Peay Experience Grant:

* Eligibility for the Experience Grant will be determined by Austin Peay State University and is subject to modification based on additional information, a change in circumstances, or other reason. The information on this site is provided for informational purposes only and does not create a binding legal obligation.

** Students may apply when they have reached 45 credit hours, but funds will not be disbursed until they reach at least 60 credit hours.


Application Process

The application process has been created to ensure that the student clearly identifies their needs related to the Austin Peay Experience Grant.

You must complete both the Application and the Proposal.

Step 1. Meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss your eligibility and opportunity to use the Austin Peay Experience Grant

Application Review Process

The application review process is a multi-step review process. This process has been designed to ensure that your experience and the request related to the experience match the university's guidelines.

Once your application and proposal have been submitted:

  1. Reviewed by the Austin Peay Experience Grant Committee
    1. A decision of recommendation is rendered
    2. If the student is recommended, the application will be moved to the Vice President for Finance and Administration
    3. If the student is not recommended, the student will review an e-mail regarding any changes that may be needed to the Austin Peay Experience Grant request.
  2. Reviewed by the Vice President for Finance and Administration related to funding
  3. Student and Academic Advisor will be notified via e-mail regarding the final decision of the review
Application Review Timeline

There are two types of application review processes. The standard review process and the expedited review process. Expedited review does not guarantee your application will be immediately reviewed, but is used to indicate that you may need the funds sooner than the review date.

Expedited review request will be verified by the Austin Peay Experience Grant committee to see if application warrants an expedited review. This process is done on a case-by-case basis, and it is at the discretion of the committee.

Post-Experience Requirement

After you have completed your Austin Peay Experience, you will be required to submit a reflection to persist@apsu.edu related to your experience. This reflection is designed to document how the Austin Peay Experience Grant impacted your current and future academic journey, and your future career path.
