Counseling Services

The office of Student Counseling Services offers a range of services and opportunities dedicated to caring for our student’s emotional and mental health needs. In counseling you and a trained therapist work together to better understand yourself, cope with specific issues, and/or improve your overall well-being.

Ensuring your health and well-being has always been out top priority. SCS is continuing to take every precaution to ensure that every student feels cared for and support through our virtual services.

 Welcomes to Student Counseling Services

SCS offers a variety of direct care services to students at Austin Peay State University including individual counseling, drop-in counseling, and group support.  All of our direct care services are provided by licensed professional staff (counselors, marriage and family therapists, and a psychologist) and/or by counseling interns working under the supervision of a licensed professional. We have worked hard to make our Center an environment that is welcoming, respectful of diversity, and caring for all students.

Group Counseling
Students who have common concerns meet as a group with counselors who are trained and have experience leading groups. In these small groups, you will have an opportunity to share your experience around a specific issue and hear from others who struggle with similar difficulties.  The counselor will also offer strategies and techniques for coping with that specific issue.
