Tri-Alpha Honor Society
About Tri-Alpha
Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) is a national honor society for first-generation college students who demonstrate academic excellence. At Austin Peay, Tri-Alpha recognizes the academic achievements of first-generation students while providing a supportive network of peers with shared experiences.
Eligibility Requirements

Undergraduate students: Must have completed at least 30 credit hours with a minimum 3.2 GPA

Graduate students: Must have completed at least 9 credit hours with a minimum 3.5 GPA in their program

Student's parents, step-parents, or legal guardians must not have completed a bachelor's degree
Membership Information

Inductees are celebrated each Spring

Eligible students are notified of their eligibility through their APSU email during the first two weeks of February

The fee to join Tri-Alpha for the Spring 2027 is $17
- The Spring 2027 Tri-Alpha Induction Ceremony will take place on April 6, 2027 at 6pm
Honor Cord Information
Students who were inducted into Tri-Alpha during or prior to Spring 2026 will have their honor cords provided at no cost.
Beginning with the Spring 2027 induction ceremony, graduating Tri-Alpha members who wish to wear honor cords at commencement will be responsible for purchasing their own cords.
We sincerely apologize for this change and any inconvenience it may cause. We recognize the importance of celebrating the accomplishments of our first-generation graduates and remain committed to making this recognition as accessible as possible. To help offset these costs in the future, we plan to pursue fundraising opportunities that will allow us to provide honor cords to graduating members at a reduced cost or free of charge.
