Student Achievement
Student Achievement reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Vice Provost of Student Achievement directs the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of programs, services and policies designed to increase recruitment and retention of students in addition to providing programming for first-year faculty and the faculty leadership program.

Dr. Nancy KingSanders | Vice Provost for Student Achievement
Dr. Nancy KingSanders, Vice Provost for Student Achievement, is in her second year
at Austin Peay State University. She is committed to ensuring Student Access and
Success where students are rewarded with a high return on investment when students
complete their college degree.
KingSanders has a wealth of higher education experience to include prior appointments
as Associate Vice President for Student Success, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies,
as well as attaining tenure and the rank of full professor in the Music Department
at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
In 2016, the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Cengage Learning
presented KingSanders with its Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate award. She
also served as Principal Investigator on “Partnering for Student Success in South
Texas,” a $3.8 million Department of Education grant, and as Co-Principal Investigator
for a $2.625 Million Department of Education Grant, Integrating a Culture of Academic Research and Engagement, I-CARE.
KingSanders has presented her research at The Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board, in partnership with National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development
(NISOD) Conference, AHE National Leadership Summit, the Advancement Via Individual
Determination (AVID) National Conference, and the Educational Policy Improvement Center.
A talented clarinetist, KingSanders earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University
of Illinois, her Master of Music from the University of North Texas and her Bachelor
of Music Education from Texas State University.
Amy Corlew | Director of Admissions
Amy Corlew came to Austin Peay State University in 1996 working in the Office of Admissions
in numerous capacities and was recently named Executive Director of Admissions. In
her tenure, she has worked with thousands of students to achieve their higher education
goals.
Amy has also directed implementation of new software and technologies to enhance the
customer experience of admissions and enrolling at APSU. In her professional career,
Amy has been very involved with the Tennessee Association of Collegiate Registrars
and Admissions Officers and served as President in 2009. She is the currently the
recipient of the 2020 Governor’s Impact Award presented by the Division of Student
Affairs.
Outside of her professional career, Amy is a devoted wife and mother of two. She
is an avid sports fan and loves to travel.
Jeannette Tippett | Director of Dual Enrollment
Jeannette hails from the little town of Winamac, IN and graduated from Mississippi College with a B.S. in Social Studies and Secondary Education. She received her M.S. Ed. in school counseling from the University of Tennessee, Martin. Jeannette is currently pursuing an Ed. S. from Trevecca Nazarene University and has 23 years combined experience in secondary and post-secondary education.
She started her education career with Haywood County Schools teaching Social Studies and implementing the Ford Academy of Manufacturing Sciences (FAMS) program. Jeannette brings a wealth of experience to her role as Director of Dual Enrollment as she has been in the classroom, served as a school counselor, established a mentoring program, and served in different administrative roles. She also served as the Director of SAILS TN under the Drive to 55. Most recently, she is coming from Hamilton County Schools in Chattanooga, TN where she was a mentor teacher and Future Ready Institutes Coach.
In her spare time, she loves to bake, travel, watch college basketball, and spend time with her husband, two children and their German Shepard. Jeannette is excited to take the next step of her career with Austin Peay State University! She is looking forward to helping the next generation of Governors.
Dr. Allen Barger | Director of BSGS and AS LIBA
Dr. Allen Barger has worked at Austin Peay since July of 2004. He started as an Academic
& Career Advisor, has worked as a Student Success Coordinator, and is now the Director
of BSGS, AS LIBA, & Student Success. Additionally, he has been an adjunct instructor
for APSU 1000 and the Leadership Department. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s
degree from Slippery Rock University and his Doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University.
He has also studied in Ecuador, Mexico, and Germany.
Samantha Mallory | Director of Learning Resource Center
Samantha Mallory earned her Master's Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education
at Western Kentucky University. She joined the Austin Peay State University family
in 2017 as Director of the Office of Dual Enrollment and transitioned to the Director
of the Learning Resource Center in 2020.
She loves helping students reach their potential and supporting their academic journey!
Donna Price | Director of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships
Donna Price’s first experience with Austin Peay State University was as a traditional
undergraduate, first-generation student, earning both a Bachelor of Business Administration
and Master of Science degree. As an employee, Donna has worked in the Enrollment
Management/Student Achievement division of Academic Affairs for 29 years. Her first
13 years at Austin Peay were in progressive positions in the Office of Admissions.
Currently, Donna serves as the Director of Student Financial Aid, Scholarships and
Veterans Education Benefits. It is the love of the students and the satisfaction
in how our work contributes to their success that is the most rewarding aspect of
being Director of Financial Aid.

Lois Briones | Administrative Assistant for the Office of Enrollment Management
Lois Briones has worked at Austin Peay State University since November 2007. She
started her career path in the University Facilities Office, where she served as the
Reservation Specialist for five (5) years. In July 2012, she was selected as the
Administrative Assistant for Student Achievement. She is a proud alumna of Austin
Peay, having graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 2014. She is grateful to serve
in a position whose sole purpose is to help the students and encourage them to be
the best version of themselves.
