Department of Health and Human Performance

The Department of Health and Human Performance offers two Bachelor's degrees with seven concentrations and four master's degrees for graduate students. Both undergraduate degrees provide students with the tools necessary for success through curriculum, internship opportunities, laboratory experience, student teaching, and service learning projects.

Department of Leadership

The Department of Leadership equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to lead effectively in any sector through 100% online programs. Whether pursuing a career in the private sector, higher education, the military, government, or the non-profit world, their undergraduate and graduate programs support professional growth and leadership development.

Department of Nursing

The APSU School of Nursing offers two concentrations to attain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters with three concentrations for students seeking careers in healthcare. Students develop skills through engagement in evidence-based learning and interprofessional education and practice, with graduates providing quality, patient-centered care to their communities.

Department of Political Science and Public Management

The Department of Political Science and Public Management prepares students for exciting professions that can grow and change along with their developing skills and interests. With doctoral-trained faculty members dedicated to student success, from providing individualized instruction to keeping students informed about internship and career opportunities, the department ensures graduates are well-prepared for their futures.

Department of Psychological Science and Counseling

The Department of Psychological Science and Counseling offers several degree programs for students interested in pursuing the study of behavior of individuals, groups, and organizations. The department houses a variety of laboratory facilities to provide learning and research opportunities, with graduates well-prepared to pursue employment in community agencies, non-profit organizations, schools, health care settings, business and industry.

Department of Social Work

The Department of Social Work offers an educational experience that opens minds to social betterment, peace and social justice through small class sizes that encourage professional and personal growth. The department's goal is to develop compassionate, ethical and knowledgeable social workers committed to helping vulnerable and repressed groups.

Department of Sociology and Community Development

The Department of Sociology and Community Development provides students with a firm background in quantitative reasoning and analytical skills applicable to many professions. With smaller classes compared to many larger universities and seminar-style courses that encourage the free exchange of diverse ideas and perspectives, the department has a strong record of placing students in highly competitive, nationally recognized graduate programs.

Governors Guard ROTC

The Governors Guard ROTC program at Austin Peay has earned the General Douglas MacArthur Award eight times, bestowed on the top eight Army ROTC programs in the country. The program's close proximity to the 101st Airborne Division allows cadets to take advantage of exceptional training opportunities, including simulation facilities, hands-on training with military equipment, and attendance at Air Assault School.
