Department of Leadership and Organizational Administration

The Department of Leadership and Organizational Administration prepares students for work in professional fields in the U.S. Military, higher education, government agencies, non-profit organizations and more. Our courses give students the opportunity to explore new leadership and communication methods.

Students will explore, research and reflect on leadership topics to include foundations of leadership, team building, diversity and inclusivity, ethics, communication, public relations and innovation.  

Leadership and Organizational Administration graduate hold positions in a variety of fields to include Human Resource Management, Higher Education, Financial Services, US Military, Government Agencies, and Non-Profit Organizations. In addition, our graduates are well prepared to pursue graduate school in leadership studies, higher education administration, communications and public administration.

Austin Peay's Department of Leadership and Organizational Administration offers six undergraduate degree programs, one master's degree program and five graduate certificates. All of our offerings will help you develop your leadership skills and apply them in your field.

Hospitality Administration concentration (B.S.)

APSU's program offers students an opportunity to examine, develop, and apply hospitality management leadership skills. Students can strengthen their culinary skills while learning to lead and manage teams. Students holding an associate degree in culinary arts or restaurant management are able to build on their knowledge and develop their skills in motivating and leading teams.

Management Technology concentration (A.A.S)

The AAS degree in Management Technology (MT) provides a strong foundation business curriculum in a small package. In addition to holding graduate degrees in management, the faculty in management technology are experienced managers from corporate American, who are able to provide real-world examples of what is learned in theory, bringing an excellent blend of theory and experience to the courses taught.

Culinary Arts concentration (A.A.S)

APSU Restaurant Management students have opportunity to examine and apply management strategies in successful hospitality organizations. In addition, students can participate in a variety of regional and national culinary competitions.

Master of Science in Leadership (MSL)

The Master of Science in Leadership (MSL) with a concentration in Strategic Leadership is an interdisciplinary graduate degree program in the social sciences. The 30-hour program is designed for students who wish to pursue graduate professional studies in an online learning environment. The MSL is a professionally-oriented program that responds to the dynamic needs of students working in or preparing for rapidly changing professional environments and expectations. In this program of interdisciplinary graduate studies, students make connections between various professional fields and traditional social science disciplines.
