There will be two Nursing Summer Camps held in 2025.

Camp #1: Tuesday, June 24th, through Friday, June 27th, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Do you want to be a nurse? Austin Peay State University Camp for Aspiring Nurses is an engaging, one-week program for high school students who have completed the 11^th or 12^th grades, and are interested in a career in nursing. Participants must attend school in the following counties to be eligible: Fort Campbell, Montgomery, Stewart, Houston, Robertson, Dickson, Cheatham. This camp is made possible through grant funding from the Clarksville- Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.

Camp participants will be immersed in interactive learning activities led by undergraduate nursing faculty in the School of Nursing’s on-campus labs and simulation center. Faculty will lead students in practicing hands-on technical skills and facilitate learning opportunities through simulation, field trips, and first aid training. Participants will also learn from a panel of healthcare professionals from various inpatient and outpatient units to gain a better understanding of the work of the nurse and the healthcare team. At the APSU Camp for Aspiring Nurses, students will:

• Learn from nursing faculty and guest speakers to understand different areas of clinical expertise including medical-surgical, older adult, and community health

• Participate in hands-on interactive experiences through basic nursing skills development

• Apply learned skills in educational simulation experiences

• Earn certification in CPR and basic life support
