Department of Engineering Technology Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science Rotor-Wing Concentration

We are pleased to have you in our program and look forward to working with you as you pursue your aviation education. Please know you are always welcome to contact faculty members by phone, email or in person. We strive to make your time here at Austin Peay State University as successful and educational as possible.

This handbook sets forth policies and procedures required by both the APSU and the Aviation Science program. All aviation students must remain compliant with this handbook. Please do not confuse this statement as authorization to violate any federal, state, or local law or the APSU Aviation Safety Manual. If a conflict should arise, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and common safe practices take precedence.


General Information

Austin Peay State University offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science, with a concentration in Rotor-Wing. The degree will support any student who desires to pursue competitive careers in flight instruction, aerial tourism, charter operations and numerous other aviation applications. Students receive hands-on and academic skills in a professional setting and receive personal attention from their instructors.

Flight skills are taught at the Austin Peay Flight Facility at the Clarksville Regional Airport (KCKV), through university faculty and staff. Currently, students are taught in the Guimbal Cabri G2 and the Robinson R-44 Raven II.

Successful student will receive a well-rounded undergraduate education in addition to the ability to obtain FAA Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor certification. This combination of FAA certification and Bachelor’s degree makes graduates more competitive in the career market. Austin Peay State University is a member of the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI).
