8. Preflight Procedures

8.1 Aircraft Preflight

All Aviation Science faculty, staff and students are authorized to conduct aircraft preflights in the hangar.

All preflights will be completed with use of the appropriate aircraft checklist.

Disclaimer: Students will not turn any rotor blades while the aircraft is in the hangar.


8.2 Aircraft Ground Movement

The ONLY authorized personnel to push or tug aircraft in and out of the hangar are APSU Aviation Science maintenance personnel, CFIs, Aviation Science Capstone students, and approved student workers.

In all cases, personnel MUST be trained by maintenance personnel on proper handling of aircraft, tug operation, and best safety practices.


8.3 Aircraft Fueling

The ONLY authorized personnel to refuel aircraft are APSU Aviation Science maintenance personnel, CFIs, Aviation Science Capstone students, and approved student workers.

In all cases, personnel MUST be trained by maintenance personnel on proper handling of aircraft, truck operation, associated refueling system, and best safety practices.

Prior to the first fueling operation of the day, personnel SHOULD check the remaining fuel in the truck. If the fuel is low, report to maintenance personnel or the Aviation Operations Coordinator (AOC).
