The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Quantitative Methods with concentrations in Predictive Analytics, Mathematical Finance, and Mathematics Instruction.

The Predictive Analytics and Mathematical Finance concentrations can be completed nearly entirely through face-to-face courses, fully online, or some combination of the two modalities. The Mathematics Instruction degree plan consists mostly of hybrid and online courses designed to accommodate the schedules of local and regional K–12 teachers, although it can be completely in-person as well.

Admission Requirements and Funding

The College of Graduate Studies handles all graduate admissions.

Scholarship funding is available for selected students pursuing the Mathematics Instruction Concentration through the Eriksson Scholarship. Follow the button below to apply. Scholarship applications will be reviewed each even Fall, and on an ongoing basis as funds are available. When an application is received, a tentative course schedule will be sent out.

MS in Quantitative Methods

Online | On-Campus | Mix of Online & On-Campus

• Mathematical Finance Concentration
• Mathematics Instruction Concentration
• Predictive Analytics Concentration

Graduate Teaching Assistant Positions

• Work (a maximum of) 20 hours per week for 16 weeks in Fall and 16 weeks in Spring.

• Annual stipend: $5,800.

• Eligible for a tuition waiver to cover the cost of tuition and fees (approximately $10,000) not to exceed 10 graduate credit hours per academic semester.

• Applicant must be admitted to the M.S. in Quantitative Methods program.

• The College of Graduate Studies handle all graduate assistantship applications.

• All GTAs need to follow Tennessee state laws/regulations and US Immigration laws/regulations, when seeking additional employments.
