- How to Schedule an Appointment
- The APSU Writing Center uses MyWCOnline to schedule all appointments, including:
1. Go to apsu.mywconline.com
2. Register using your APSU email and create a password (at least 10 characters).
3. Log in and choose the correct schedule.
4. Select a time: Click a white box that fits your availability to book a 30-minute or 1-hour appointment. Bring an assignment sheet and upload your document in .doc or .docx format.
5. Choose appointment type:
- In-Person: Arrive at the Writing Center (2nd floor, Woodward Library) at the start of your session.
- Online: Click your appointment at the scheduled time and select “Start or Join Online Consultation.”
- ETutoring (Paper-Submission): After your session, log in, open your appointment, and check "Attached Files" for feedback.
6. Enter your course name, instructor, and what you want to work on.
7. Click “Create Appointment.”
Meet with a writing tutor at the Writing Center (2nd floor, Woodward Library) at your scheduled time.
At your appointment time, click on your appointment on on myWConline and select “Start or Join Online Consultation.” This opens a live video chat with your tutor for real-time discussion and feedback. To enable camera, microphone, and screen-sharing:
Why Won’t My Shared Screen, Video, or Audio Show Up?
Different browsers and computers handle camera, microphone, and screen-sharing permissions differently. You may need to enable each feature separately (camera, mic, screen-sharing).
Using Firefox
- Firefox might require additional permissions, after you have allowed sharing of the camera or microphone within an online meeting.
- Go to Preferences → Privacy & Security → Permissions.
- Under Camera and Microphone click Settings.
- Make sure your meeting site is allowed to use these features.
Using Mac
- On a Mac you might need to grant permission for screen sharing.
- Go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Screen Recording.
- Select the look icon to make changes if needed.
- Check the box next to the browser(s) you use for screen sharing.
Using Another Browser
- Each browser has its own way of requesting permission to use your camera, microphone, or screen.
- To grant access: Review your browser’s privacy or site settings to allow use.
- Check your computer’s system preferences to ensure the browser has access to these features.
Schedule a time for a tutor to review your paper. No meeting required.
- Upload your assignment sheet and written draft as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) file.
- After the session time, log back in, open your appointment, and check the "Attached Files" section for your tutor's written feedback.
- Log into your mywconline account.
- Once you're on the schedule, simply select your preferred day and time, then follow the steps to book your appointment for one of your courses.
- What to Bring to Your Session
Bring the assignment sheet provided by your instructor.
Assignment sheets are required to be uploaded for all eTutoring appointments. Students can provide them at the start of in-person and online appointments. Without this, your appointment you may be asked to reschedule.
Bring any work you've started writing such as notes, outline, a draft, etc.
Bring Specific questions or concerns you want to focus on during the session.
Students unwilling to engage in conversation with their tutor may be asked to reschedule.
- What to Expect in a Session
- At the APSU Writing Center, our goal is to empower you to improve in your writing skills. Whether in-person, online, or through eTutoring, sessions are collaborative and focus on student writing development. During sessions students ask questions and listen to tutor suggestions.
- You can bring in writing at any stage of the writing process from brainstorming, drafting, to revising.
- Tutors will not edit or "fix" your paper. but will help in exploring your ideas, strengthening your writing structure, and navigating the writing process.
- Tutors typically review 2-3 pages during a 30-minute session, so it's best to submit a section of your work.
