Whether you're exploring your college options or already envisioning yourself on stage or in the studio, visiting our Music Department is one of the best ways to experience our community, our facilities, and our approach to music education.

Be a Music Student for a Day

October 15, 2025, 8am-3pm

Step into the shoes of a college music student for a day! Our Student for a Day event gives high school students the opportunity to:

• Sit in on music classes and ensemble rehearsals

• View a private lesson with a faculty member (optional)

• Meet current music majors

• Tour our music facilities

• Ask questions about auditions, scholarships, and the music major experience

This event is perfect for students considering music as a major or minor—or even those who are just curious about what life as a music student is like.

Details

All interested high school students may attend regardless of intended major.

Parents are welcome to join us and learn about admissions and scholarship opportunities.

You’ll have a break around midday to grab lunch. We’ll provide you with on-campus dining options—including our dining hall and food court—and let you choose what works best for you. At this time, lunch is not covered, so please bring cash or card. All-you-can-eat lunch is $11.17.

Once you register you will receive a confirmation email and another to register your vehicle to park on campus for the day.

Can’t Make It? Visit On Your Own Schedule

If you can't attend the Student for a Day event, no worries—we’re happy to arrange an individual visit tailored to your interests. Individual music department visits will include much of the same experience as the Student for a Day event.

To request an individual visit to the Music Department, fill out this form and select "I cannot attend the Student for a Day Event, but I would like to plan a visit for another day" and someone will reach out to you to plan that visit.

Schedule a Campus Tour

We also recommend taking a general campus tour to get a feel for the broader student experience! Tours are led by Admissions and include residence halls, dining, academic buildings, and student life spaces.
