Master of Speech-Language Pathology Program Strategic Plan 2025-2030
Executive Summary Master of Speech-Language Pathology
The Austin Peay State University Master of Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP) program has successfully completed its inaugural strategic plan, achieving the goals outlined in the original plan and laying a strong foundation for future growth. Over the past five years, the program has grown from a single faculty member to a cohesive team of five full-time faculty, launched and sustained a free community clinic, enrolled four successful cohorts, and advanced through the accreditation process from candidacy to formal application. These milestones reflect a shared commitment to teamwork, innovation, ethical practice, and student-focused community-centered education.
The 2025–2030 Strategic Plan builds on this momentum by setting forth clear priorities in three key areas: strategic growth and program sustainability, innovation in clinical education and leveraging community partnerships, as well as academic excellence and professional readiness. Grounded in the mission to improve the lives of individuals with communication disorders through evidence-based practices and compassionate care, this plan positions the MSLP program to scale its impact, prepare highly competent professionals, and lead in transforming the future of the field.
This strategic plan serves as a guiding framework for the continued development and advancement of the APSU MSLP program over the next five years. It articulates a vision for thoughtful growth, deepened clinical impact, and academic excellence while addressing emerging trends, including technological transformation and evolving professional standards. The plan ensures that the program remains aligned with both institutional goals and the needs of the community it serves. The 2025-2030 Strategic Plan is also evidence of compliance with Accreditation Standard 1.5 as set forth by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), which is the accrediting body of graduate programs in speech-language pathology.
