VA Fee Deferment
If your VA education benefit payment has not been received by APSU's billing deadline, a VA fee deferment temporarily postpones your tuition and fees obligation to prevent late charges while your benefit processes. You must request a deferment each term — it is not applied automatically.
Deferments become available approximately 30 days before the first day of classes. Check Important Dates for the availability window each term.
How to Request a Fee Deferment
The deferment request is completed through OneStop.
Important: Do not use your browser's back button at any point during this process. Using the back button will cancel your deferment request.
-
Log in to OneStop.
-
Select the Web Self Service tab.
-
Select the Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs tab.
-
Select the VA Fee Deferment request link.
-
Select the term for which you are requesting the deferment.
-
Select Continue.
-
Confirm you have selected the correct term and select Continue.
-
Review the Fee Deferment Authorization (see below) and choose your option.
-
Select Continue — a confirmation will appear on screen.
Each term requires a separate deferment request. A deferment from a previous term does not carry over.
Fee Deferment Authorization
When submitting your request, you will choose one of two options:
Option One — Authorize the deferment
I authorize Austin Peay State University to temporarily defer my tuition and fees for the term specified. Books and supplies will not be included in this deferment.
I hereby acknowledge that I am the responsible party for payment of my tuition and fees, regardless of receipt of my VA education benefits. I understand that my grades and transcripts will be withheld, registration for any future terms will not be allowed, and approval of future VA fee deferments will be denied until this deferment is paid in full. I further understand that if I drop classes or withdraw from the University, I will be subject to the normal refund policies as published by the University, and that any amount owed according to those policies must be paid by me. Should the balance remain unpaid for more than 90 days following the end of the authorized term, my account will be referred to a collection agency, and I will assume any additional charges associated with this action.
Option Two — Decline the deferment
I do not authorize a fee deferment and will be responsible for full payment of all charges.
If you select Option Two, you will not receive a VA fee deferment. You will need to set up payment arrangements with Student Account Services to confirm your registration.
Partial Deferments
If your VA education benefit will not cover your full tuition and fees, you may only qualify for a partial deferment. In that case, you will need to set up a payment plan with Student Account Services for the remaining balance.
Processing Time
Please allow 2 business days for your fee deferment request to be processed after submission.
