Each Term
Using VA education benefits at APSU is not a one-time setup. Each semester — including summer sessions — there are steps you need to complete to keep your benefit active and your payments on time.
The most important thing to know: your enrollment is not automatically certified each term. You must request it.
What to do each term
How does my enrollment get certified to the VA each term?
After you register for classes, submit the Certification Request Form so our office can certify your enrollment to the VA. Without it, your benefit will not be paid for that term.
Do I need to verify my enrollment with the VA each month?
Students receiving monthly stipends under Chapters 30, 33 (housing allowance), 35, and 1606 must verify their enrollment with the VA each month. This is separate from the CRF and is done directly through VA.gov, text, or phone.
What if my VA payment hasn't arrived by APSU's billing deadline?
A VA fee deferment temporarily postpones your tuition and fees obligation while your benefit processes, protecting you from late charges. Must be requested each term — it is not automatic.
What are the key dates and deadlines each term?
Advance payment requests, deferment availability, and CRF deadlines all follow specific windows each term. Check here before each semester begins.
