Video Production: Guidelines and Intent Form

Use this page to plan and submit your video project. It has two parts:
-
Guidelines: branding, dress, technical specs, content, approvals, and a pre‑production checklist.
-
Intent Form: a short submission to start a conversation with Marketing so we can advise on brand alignment, accessibility, and timelines.
Guidelines
-
Use only current, approved university logos
-
Ensure all visible graphics and backgrounds feature current branding
-
Avoid showing outdated university materials or signage
-
Students should wear neutral or university-branded clothing
-
No competing university/college logos or branding
-
Avoid clothing with prominent logos/text unrelated to our institution
-
Record in high definition (1080p minimum)
-
Use good lighting and clear audio
-
Use window lighting to highlight your subject, being mindful of anything distracting in the background (Trash cans, cluttered desks, off-brand colors etc.)
-
Turn off fans or air conditioners to limit background noise, if possible
-
-
Keep videos concise (2-3 minutes recommended)
-
Include captions for accessibility
-
Record horizontally, keep subjects centered (footage can then be cropped to vertical for social media use later on if needed)
-
Focus on authentic, genuine student experiences
-
Maintain professional background settings
-
Avoid mentioning specific years that could date the video
-
For testimonials, avoid scripted responses (subjects will try to stick to their memorized script, which feels inauthentic)
-
Submit rough cuts for initial review
-
Final approval required from Hannah Eden, Director of Marketing
-
Allow 5-10 business days for review process
-
Submit with details about filming location, student information, and intended use
-
Verify current branding guidelines
-
Scout location for appropriate backgrounds
-
Review student wardrobe choices
-
Prepare interview questions
-
Obtain necessary release forms
