Governors Orientation Checklist
Before your orientation day, work through these five steps. Completing them early means fewer loose ends at GO and more options when it's time to register for classes.
1. Apply for Financial Aid
To receive any type of financial aid — including Tennessee Lottery Scholarships — you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It takes about three weeks to receive your award letter after submitting, so don't wait.
2. Apply for Housing or Submit an Exemption
Single, full-time freshmen under age 21 are required to live on campus or commute from the home of a parent or guardian within 50 miles of campus. Before coming to Governors Orientation, you must complete one of the following:
-
Apply for Housing through the Housing and Residence Life portal
-
Submit a Housing Exemption Form if you qualify to live off campus
3. Complete Your Immunization Requirements
You must complete the Certificate of Immunization, have it signed by a certified healthcare provider, and submit it through the Health Services Student Portal before your orientation date. This is required before you can be cleared for classes.
Submit your immunization records through the Health Services Student Portal
For a full list of requirements, visit the Boyd Health Immunizations page.
4. Submit Your Final Transcripts
Your high school, GED center, and/or any former colleges must send official final transcripts directly to the Office of Admissions. Transcripts must come from the institution — they cannot be submitted by the student.

5. Set Up Your Mobile ID
Your Govs Mobile ID is your all-in-one campus credential — used for building access, dining, printing, and more. Get it set up before orientation so you're ready to go on day one.
