Schedule of Events

GO Weekend events will take place from Wednesday, August 21st through Sunday, August 25th, 2024. Events marked with an asterisk are mandatory for incoming freshmen. The 2024 GO Weekend schedule is still being constructed, but we have left the 2023 GO Weekend schedule below so you have an idea of what to expect!

Wednesday,
August 23

8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.- Help A Gov

  • Need help tying up loose ends? Come to the Ellington Building lobby for assistance with fee payments, registration, financial aid, and more.

5:00-7:00 p.m.- Yard games with the College Ministries at APSU (Eriksson Quad)

  • Open to all students! We'll have free snow cones, games like volleyball, 9-square, kickball, and a great way to meet new friends!

August 24

8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.- Help A Gov

  • Need help tying up loose ends? Come to the Ellington Building lobby for assistance with fee payments, registration, financial aid, and more.

2:00-4:00 p.m.- Govs Island (Eriksson Quad)

  • Take a break from moving in and join the Office of Admissions and your favorite orientation leaders with inflatables, Sugar Boogar Sno Cones, yard games, music, and of course our first major giveaway..... the infamous new APSU sunglasses.

7:00-10:00 p.m.- APSU at The City Forum and Shopping Extravaganza

  • Charter buses will pick up students in front of the Ellington Building and take students to The City Forum for an evening of go karts, bowling, laser tag, putt-putt, and arcade games! Free pizza will be available for all students attending the event courtesy of our great friends at The City Forum.
  • Sango Walmart will be the next location our buses will drop off and pick up from. You will have the opportunity to get any last minute supplies for your residence hall, school supplies, or just some snacks to have on hand. The wonderful team at the Sango Walmart will be in APSU shirts to assist you with anything you may be trying to find.

8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.- Help A Gov

8:00 a.m.-8:45 a.m.- Peayceful Morning Yoga (The Spirit Rock)

  • Join us for a relaxing morning practicing yoga with Foy Fitness staff on the lawn by the spirit rock! There will be a limited number of mats available for use, but please bring your own if you have one.

9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.- Let's Go Gnome Painting Experience (AD113)

  • Come paint with the Department of Art + Design. You will make a beginner-level painting that will amaze your friends and brighten up your dorm. No experience necessary, just a willingness to have fun and a love of all things gnome.  All supplies provided for this one hour painting experience. Space is limited to 20 students, sign-up here! This event will take place in AD 113.

9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.- APSU-TV Expo (In front of the Foy)

  • Lights, camera, ACTION! Visit the APSU-TV Broadcasting Van to get a taste of television broadcasting and student media opportunities on campus.

9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.- Let's Talk About Art (The New Gallery)

  • Join Michael Dickins, the New Gallery Director and head of the University Permanent Art Collection for a tour of artwork on campus. The tour will start at the New Gallery in the Art+Design building.

9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.- Let's GO for a Bike Ride (Foy Fitness Center)

  • Join Govs Outdoors for a bike ride around APSU campus and part of the Clarksville Greenway. Our trip meets at the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center at 9 am on Friday August 25th, and will end around 10:00 am. Please wear athletic shoes and make considerations for sun protection and warm weather. Spots are limited, register here!

2:00-3:00 p.m.- Legacy Freshman Pinning Ceremony & Reception

  • This is an invitation only event for legacy students. Please check your email for instructions and information

3:30-4:00 p.m.- Freshman Pep Rally (Dunn Center)*

  • As you make your way into YOUR freshman convocation event, you will be greeted by the welcoming smiles of the APSU Cheer and Spirit teams, the incredible sound of the APSU Governors Own Marching Band, and a live DJ!

4:00-4:30 p.m.- Freshman Convocation (Dunn Center)*

  • Chapter One begins! Be welcomed to Austin Peay by University President Mike Licari and start your journey as a Gov! This is a mandatory event for all incoming freshmen and you are asked to wear the red "Official Gov" shirt you were given at orientation. 

4:30-7:45 p.m.- GovFest ft. Haven Madison (Fortera Stadium)

  • Take the opportunity to learn about all of the different organizations and clubs that APSU has to offer. Learn all the chants and cheers that you will need to know to support your Govs on the field. There will be food trucks and live music from Clarksville's own Haven Madison, and a special firework show to close the festivities!

8:00-11:00 p.m.- GlowChella (Intramural Field)

  • THE GLOW UP IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN! Come join us for GLOWCHELLA, a music festival-themed interactive dance party featuring glow paint and accessories. Dress for mess and get ready to have the time of your life!

August 26

10:00-11:00 a.m.- UNIV 1000/PELP 1000/HON 1000 Day 0 of Class (Dunn Center)*

  • Meet with your UNIV 1000 class and your Peer Leader for the first time. Here we will give you the last minute tips and tricks before starting off your semester on Monday. This is your last chance to take care of business by turning in any last minute documents This event is mandatory for all incoming freshmen! 

10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.- Help A Gov

  • Need help tying up loose ends? Come to the Ellington Building lobby for assistance with fee payments, registration, financial aid, and more.

11:00-1:00 p.m.- Meet your Dean! Free food available around campus (various)

  • Join your Dean and academic college a for free food and a chance to mingle with other students and faculty from your department! 

11:00-1:00 p.m.- Lunch with LifePoint!

  • Meet LifePoint Church in the MUC Plaza for free burgers, hotdogs, and fellowship!

1:00-2:00 p.m.- GOV RUN (Intramural Field)

  • RUN, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN......or a nice jog......maybe a brisk walk..... But whatever you do, don't miss out on this exciting Color Run around our beautiful, historic campus. Free T-shirts for those who participate!

2:00-4:30 p.m.- Peay at the Pool (Foy Pool)

  • Free APSU Hawaiian shirts for the first 200 people along with games and music at the Foy Fitness Center Pool! Come hang out with us in the pool or play games on the lawn, just dont be late if you want a sweet shirt!

6:00-9:00 p.m.- Greekfest (Intramural Field)

  • Greekfest is a great chance to meet new friends on campus as well as meet members from our 21 Greek organizations. This event is highly attended, open to the whole APSU community and includes free food, inflatables, DJ, and giveaways. Come by yourself, with friends from your dorm, or friends you've known for years - you are all invited! You don't want to miss this highly anticipated and high-energy welcome-back event!

7:00-10:00 p.m.- Let's Glow Peay!

  • Join us at the Foy for the ultimate silent disco experience! 3 DJs all playing your favorite songs all night long. You will also have the opportunity to try out some of the group fitness classes, such as cycling, HIIT, and many more!

10:00-12:00 p.m.- United Worship Service (MUC Ballroom)

  • Join the campus ministries for a time of worship after a busy weekend and learn more about what each organization has to offer! We will have free lunch available in the MUC Plaza after!

12:00-3:00 p.m.- Float trip with Govs Outdoors

  • Spaces for these trips will be limited, so be sure to sign up ahead of time! Register here. This trip is completely free to our students.

5:30-7:30 p.m.- Welcome Back Bash (UC Ballroom)

  • Come hang out with the amazing staff from the office of Housing, Residence Life, and Dining Services at our annual welcome back bash and enjoy dinner as you get excited for your first day of college! Music will be provided by a live DJ. 

9:00-11:00 p.m.- PeayCake Breakfast (Morgan University Center Cafe)

  • Come for the pancakes and a full breakfast spread made by APSU's President Mike Licari and our Senior Leadership Team, and stay for the trivia with your favorite Director of Orientation, Jandro, who is bringing all the good vibes!
