Governors Orientation at Austin Peay State University
Fall and Summer 2026 Orientation is now open for freshmen - Register for Governors Orientation
Transfer and Nontraditional student registration opens March 15.
Welcome to Governors Orientation
Governors Orientation (GO) is where your APSU experience begins. In a single day, you'll meet your academic advisor, register for classes, and get connected with the campus services, organizations, and resources that will carry you through your time as a Governor.
All new students must complete the online GO module before they can be connected with an academic advisor and cleared for course registration.
Ready to get started? Visit the Freshman Orientation or Transfer Orientation pages for details specific to your situation.
What Happens During GO
Orientation runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. You must attend every activity to register for classes at the end of the session — plan to stay the full day. Check-in is in the Morgan University Center lobby.
During GO, you will:
-
Meet with an academic advisor and register for classes
-
Learn about campus technology, dining, and housing
-
Learn about your APSU mobile ID
-
Connect with student organizations and get involved on campus
-
Take care of remaining business with offices like Financial Aid and Health Services
For Parents and Guests
Your support makes a difference in your student's success. At Governors Orientation, we'll answer your questions, walk you through available services, and connect you with key APSU staff — all in sessions designed with families in mind.
A few things to know before you come:
-
Attendance is strongly encouraged for parents and guests.
-
Each student may bring up to two guests.
-
While your student meets with an advisor and registers for classes, parents and guests attend separate, dedicated sessions. Parents may not attend the academic advising session.
-
Young children and pets (other than service animals) should not attend.
-
Dress for the weather — you'll be outside and moving between buildings.
-
Bring something to write with.
-
Guest registration happens when your student registers online.
