Call for Gen Ed Assessment Evaluators
Academic Affairs and the General Education Committee seek faculty to serve as assessment evaluators on January 6-7, 2022. The assessment days will include a virtual training and norming session via Zoom on Thursday morning, time for scoring of student work on your own, and a final in-person debrief luncheon on Friday (all required, schedule details below).
Faculty evaluators will receive a $200 stipend and lunch at the concluding session.
Faculty evaluators will score de-identified samples of student work collected from
general education courses using a rubric aligned with one of the General Education
Pillars (competencies). For the January 2022 assessment days, we seek evaluators for
the Written Communication Pillar and the Quantitative Reasoning Pillar (see details
below).
Goals of the assessment days include:
- Generate evaluations of student work from a variety of disciplines represented in gen ed;
- Engage faculty from across the university in general education assessment and discussions of student learning;
- Produce results that can be used as a foundation for discussions about student learning in general education, promoting the value of general education, and identifying potential improvements to curriculum, pedagogy, or student support.
Please read over the Pillar Details and Gen Ed Assessment Days schedule below to ensure that you are able to participate in this round of assessment. If you meet the requirements and are available, please complete the form at the bottom of the page.
