Read&Write (R&W) is a reading/literacy program run by TextHelp. R&W is an easy-to-use toolbar that hosts many helpful study tools, including text-to-speech, predictive writing, and dictionary tools.

Installation Instructions

1. Download the appropriate version of R&W for your device:

   Desktop versions:

   • Download Read&Write for Windows

   • Download Read&Write for Mac OS

   Mobile & Browser versions:

   • R&W for Android

   • R&W for iPad

   • R&W for Chrome

   • R&W for Microsoft Edge

2. Complete the installation using standard install procedures. A device restart may be required.

3. Activate premium features:

   • Sign into the program using your Microsoft/APSU account credentials (e.g., yourinfo@my.apsu.edu)

   • You'll typically be prompted to log in after launching the program

   • For manual login, go to Options > Account

Read&Write works directly with Microsoft Word, web browsers, and PDF files. The toolbar provides these key features:

• Play/Pause/Stop: Controls for text-to-speech reading

• Rewind/Forward: Navigate through reading units

• PDF Reader: Specialized tool for reading PDF files

• Screenshot Reader: Capture and read text from any screen area

• Scan: Convert print or PDF documents to editable formats

• Audio Maker: Convert text to MP3 files

• Translation: Translate text between multiple languages

Writing & Research Support

• Check It: Spell checker with homonym detection

• Word Prediction: Suggests words as you type

• Dictionary: Provides definitions of selected words

• Picture Dictionary: Shows images for selected words

• Highlighters: Mark text in different colors

• Collect Highlights: Gather highlighted text into a new file

• Vocabulary: Build custom vocabulary lists
