Services for Access & Assistive Technology

The Disability Student Success Center (DSSC) provides a variety of assistive technology and support services to ensure equal access for all students. These assistive programs are readily available on computers in the DSSC and campus computer labs.

If you encounter any campus systems that appear to be missing this software, please email us so we can work with the appropriate department to install it.


Support Services Offered by DSSC


Assistive Technology Resources

  • Computer Lab - To accommodate our students with disabilities, for the purpose of providing equal access to physical space. A variety of adaptive equipment and software is located at computer labs throughout our campus including the Woodward library.

  • Zoomtext - Easy to use software programs that magnify the computer screen, word processors, spreadsheets, databases, online services, and more.

  • Jaws - A powerful accessibility solution developed for computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content or navigating with a mouse. JAWS provides speech and Braille output for the most popular computer applications on your PC. You will be able to navigate the Internet, write a document, read an email and create presentations.

  • Read & Write - Software and App reads webpages, documents and files more accessible. Provides assists with everyday tasks like reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words, researching assignments and proofing written work.

  • Glean - Software for Windows and Mac that makes it easy to capture full recordings of classes and meetings and to work with that audio. The software makes recordings of speech a real, tangible thing, by visualizing audio as chunks, phrase-by-phrase.

  • Voice Calculators - Provides an audio output for mathematical numbers and scientific functions.

  • Digital Records - Small hand-held device that is used to record voice memos or lectures, and play the audio back.

  • CART - Communication Access Realtime Translation, provides the student with realtime translation of information that is spoken in the classroom.

  • Laptop Loan - Laptop loan program for students registered with DSSC participating in courses that rely on technology or assistive technology in order to support their academic progression and success.
