Pregnant & Nursing Students

Pregnant Students

As a student who is pregnant, you have the right to time off as well as other necessary accommodations. Austin Peay's Office of Equity, Access & Inclusion oversees enforcement of this federally protected right. More details on rights you have as a pregnant student can be found on their website detailing Title IX protection. If at any point you feel that your accommodations are not being met, or you have concerns regarding pregnancy and being a student, please reach out to the A.N.T.S. Center director, Ashley Kautz, or the Office of Institutional Culture.

Nursing Students

Austin Peay recognizes the time commitment and needs students who are nursing their children may face. To aid in this, the university has four lactation spaces that can be found below:

The Center, located in the Morgan University Center (room 111), has a lactation room that is fully stocked with nursing supplies. In addition, we have gently used and brand new clothing, shoes, and other infant & toddlerPhoto of ANTS Center lactation space essentials. The space also often has diapers and other necessities. The lactation space is equipped with a refrigerator, lockers, and a bottle warmer.

The center also accepts gently used items for children ages 24 months and younger.

APSU has two Mamava Pods. These spaces can be accessed by a code that can beImage of Sundquist Lactation Space found through the app. The outside of the pod has a sticker with details on how to access the pod. The Mamava Pods are ventilated, private, and have an outlet for you to plug in a pump. The Sundquist Mamava pod is located at the end of the A wing hall on the third floor.

APSU's second Mamava Pod is located on the second floor mezzanine in the Music/MassMMC Lactation Space Photo Communications building. These spaces can be accessed by a code that can be found through the app. The outside of the pod has a sticker with details on how to access the pod. The Mamava Pods are ventilated, private, and have an outlet for you to plug in a pump.

The library has a lactation space in room 230. The lactation room is located in the
back left-hand corner of the main floor of the library. There is a single chair and table
in the room; however, we recommend those utilizing the room to bring their own
sanitation wipes. The room remains locked, so please visit the front, checkout desk to
receive the key.
