Student Class Absence & Attendance Guidance

Can Student Affairs or Community Care & Standards excuse me from class?

No. Our offices cannot excuse you from class or change your instructor’s attendance policy.

Who should I contact if I miss a class or need to miss a class?

Please contact your instructor directly. They can provide information about missed course work, attendance expectations, and any available options.

Can you provide a note to show my professor?

We cannot provide absence verification for personal reasons such as appointments, transportation issues, or family responsibilities.

What if I’m dealing with a personal, medical, or financial challenge?

If ongoing issues are affecting your academics, the Office of Community Care & Standards can help connect you with support and campus resources.

Where can I get help?

APSU Reporting Hub

Austin Peay State University is committed to a safe, supportive, and inclusive campus. The APSU Reporting Hub is a secure case management system that allows us to handle confidential communications and student-related cases, including conduct, care, and resource referrals. The information is protected and shared only with authorized individuals.

These forms should NOT be used for emergency situations as they are not monitored 24/7. If there is an immediate threat of harm to self or others, contact Campus Police (931‑221‑7786) or call 911.
