APSU unveils new incentives for the next generation of Governor students

experience

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – On Saturday, Oct. 15, Austin Peay State University President Mike Licari surprised a crowd of potential students when he announced several new initiatives aimed at getting them through college faster, at a lower cost and with more enriching experiences.

“We’re so confident that you will thrive on our beautiful campus that we’re willing to put money on it,” Licari said. “That’s what The Austin Peay Experience is all about.”

The potential students and their parents were at Austin Peay on that sunny, autumn Saturday for the University’s Govs Preview Day. After touring the campus, meeting faculty and seeing how the University could foster their potential, the students learned about three new programs – The Austin Peay Experience, the Govs Guarantee 2023 and the Alumni Legacy Scholarship.

The Austin Peay Experience

Beginning with the Fall 2023 semester, Austin Peay guarantees freshmen will graduate in four years. If the students follow their program’s requirements but are still unable to graduate on time, the University will pay whatever tuition remains for them to complete their degree. These new grants will provide incoming freshmen and transfer students with an additional $2,000 to study abroad, participate in internships, develop innovative research or explore other learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom. Govs Guarantee 2023

If a student enrolls now as a first-year freshman at Austin Peay for the 2023-24 academic year, they will receive this year’s tuition rate for next fall. That means no surprises, no unexpected fees. By locking in these current rates and fees – including housing and dining for their 2023-2024 academic year – they’ll have peace of mind to fully enjoy the Austin Peay experience. That’s Austin Peay’s guarantee. Learn more at https://www.apsu.edu/tuition-guarantee.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship

The Alumni Legacy Scholarship honors those families who, over several generations, have found a home at this University. Beginning with in the summer of 2023, the University will award $1,000 to legacy students. These first-time, full-time freshmen and transfer students will be eligible for this scholarship if they are the child, grandchild or sibling of an Austin Peay alum. This includes the children of step-, biological and adoptive parents. For details about qualifications, visit https://www.apsu.edu/legacy-scholarship.

“We’re here to prepare you for the life you want, which means giving you life-changing experiences and a college education,” Licari said, “The sooner you start that life, the better.”
