Eskildson supplemented classwork with writing for the campus newspaper, The All State.

“I remember taking an intro to sociology class and realizing how much it impacted my understanding (of social issues),” she said. “I also love to write, so I decided to major in both sociology and journalism.”

Eskildson put the skills she learned at Austin Peay to good use, interning with Free for Life International, an organization dedicated to fighting human trafficking in Nepal.

Combining her passion for service with her skills as a writer, Eskildson interviewed survivors, telling their story across the group’s various platforms and raising awareness for their plight.

“My dream job is to work for an international anti-trafficking organization,” Eskildson said.

“My sociology background prepares me for the different communities and cultures I will encounter, and my communication degree equips me to spread the awareness about human trafficking and advocate to end the injustice.”
