Center for Literacy Fellows

The Center for Literacy Fellows program develops literacy leaders in our community by providing K-12 teachers with the support, resources, and expertise to implement evidence-based practices in their classrooms.

Program Overview

The Center for Literacy Fellows program is a competitive, year-long fellowship for elementary, middle, and high school teachers in our region.

What Fellows Receive:

• $500 stipend

• Two full-day professional learning sessions (fall and spring)

• Personalized support from Center for Literacy faculty

• Access to current literacy research and resources

What Fellows Do:

• Select a literacy topic they want to explore in depth

• Design and implement a small action research project in their classroom

• Document successes and challenges throughout the year

• Present a professional development session at their own school

Why Become a Fellow?

The Fellows program is designed to create literacy leaders. By the end of the year, Fellows will:

• Deepen their expertise in a self-selected area of literacy instruction

• Gain experience conducting classroom-based action research

• Build skills in facilitating professional development for colleagues

• Join a network of literacy-focused educators across the region

The program also keeps the Center for Literacy connected to the real needs of teachers on the ground to ensure our work remains relevant and responsive.

Eligibility & Application

Eligibility:

• Current K-12 classroom teachers (elementary, middle, or high school)

• Teaching in Montgomery County, Tenn.
