The Center for Literacy advances the field through rigorous research and by creating opportunities for teachers, students, and faculty to engage in scholarly inquiry.

Our Focus

Our work centers on improving literacy outcomes through evidence-based instruction. Current areas of focus include:

• Effectiveness of preservice literacy curriculum

• Reading intervention strategies for struggling readers

• Structured literacy and the science of reading

• Community-based literacy initiatives

Assessment Resources

We maintain a collection of assessment instruments to support graduate student research, including:

• Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement

• Gray Oral Reading Test (GORT)

Graduate students conducting literacy research may request access to these tools through the Center.

The Center for Literacy pursues external funding to support our research mission.
