The Center for Literacy provides targeted, research-based professional development for K-12 educators, APSU faculty and staff, and community organizations.
Whether you're looking for a single workshop or ongoing support, we offer flexible options to meet your needs.
On-Site Presentations We bring evidence-based literacy training directly to your school or district. Topics include structured literacy, reading intervention strategies, literacy across the content areas, and more.
Hyperlocal Conferences We host focused literacy conferences addressing timely topics such as self-regulation and reading, literacy in STEM education, and the science of reading.
Author Visits We coordinate visits with children's book authors (virtual or in person) to inspire students and support literacy-rich classroom environments.
Faculty Conference & Annual Meeting Sessions We present current literacy research and instructional strategies at university-wide professional development events.
CAFE Presentations We offer workshops through the Center for Academic Faculty Excellence on integrating
literacy strategies across disciplines.
Reading 1010 Course Support The Center for Literacy houses reading faculty and supports their professional growth.
We also collect data from Reading 1010 courses to better understand and serve the
needs of students developing their academic reading skills.
Tutor Training Partnership In collaboration with The Center for Academic Support & Enrichment, we provide professional development for tutors working with APSU students.
