About the Clarksville Youth Orchestra
The Clarksville Youth Orchestra is the premier orchestral training youth orchestra for young string students in the Clarksville area. Designed for students who currently receive private instruction and/or participate in their school orchestra, the orchestra allows young musicians to refine their ensemble playing, learn orchestral procedures, and focus on beautiful sound production.
The CYO is comprised of two separate orchestras, the Melodic Orchestra and the Harmonic Orchestra. Each orchestra requires a successful entrance audition. The Melodic Orchestra is designed for students who are newer to orchestral playing. The Harmonic Orchestra is for students with significant ensemble experience.
Rehearsals and Performances
Each group rehearses each week on Monday evenings from 5:30-6:45pm.
All regular rehearsals take place at the Music/Mass Communications Building at Austin Peay State University. Attendance and preparation for rehearsals is required for membership in the orchestra. The Clarksville Youth Orchestra performs regularly in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall located on the campus of Austin Peay State University. Other performances take place within the Clarksville community.
Registration Fee
Student participation in the CYO costs $130 per semester for the first child in a family and $115 for each additional sibling. Adult community members are welcome to join the orchestra free of charge. Visit the "Adult Members" tab for more information.
