Cost & Funding Resources

VA education benefits often cover a significant portion of your college costs — but not always everything. This page brings together the tools and resources to help you understand what your benefit covers, what you may still owe, and what additional funding may be available to you.

Understand What Things Cost

Tuition and Fees

See current APSU tuition and fee rates by credit hour, program, and enrollment type. Knowing what you'll be charged each semester helps you plan around what your VA benefit covers and what, if anything, you'll owe out of pocket.

GI Bill® Comparison Tool

The VA's comparison tool lets you see what your specific benefit chapter would cover at APSU and compare it with other schools. Useful for understanding your housing allowance rate, tuition cap, and how much of your benefit you have remaining.

Additional Funding

Financial Aid

VA education benefits and financial aid can often be used together. The APSU Office of Financial Aid can help you understand how your VA benefit interacts with grants, loans, and other aid programs.

Scholarships

APSU offers scholarships for a range of students, including veterans and military-affiliated students. Scholarships are applied before VA benefits, which can affect the amount VA pays to the school.

TCA §49-7-102 State Education Benefits

Tennessee state law provides a tuition, activity fee, and registration fee waiver for eligible dependent children and spouses of certain veterans. This benefit is separate from VA education benefits and is administered by the APSU Veterans Education Benefits office.

Support Programs

Texts For Vets

APSU's Texts For Vets program provides free textbook lending to eligible veteran students. Textbooks are a significant out-of-pocket expense not always covered by VA benefits — this program can help reduce that cost.

Tech for MAS — Calculator Lending Program

The Tech for Military-Affiliated Students (Tech for MAS) program provides eligible military-affiliated students with free TI-84 Plus calculator loans for the semester. Calculators can be checked out at the beginning of the semester and must be returned within 48 hours of class completion or by the end of the term. The program is available at both the Clarksville campus and the AP Center at Fort Campbell.
