Hazing Education & Prevention at APSU
At Austin Peay State University (APSU), the safety and well-being of students is a top priority—especially within the Greek community and student organizations. To foster a culture of accountability and care, APSU requires all new members of Greek-letter organizations to complete a hazing prevention training. Additionally, all student organization advisors must complete a training that includes education on hazing prevention and how to recognize signs of hazing. The Department of Student Life & Engagement reinforces these efforts by hosting two all-Greek meetings annually that incorporate hazing prevention education. Presidents of student organizations also participate in similar trainings to ensure leadership is equipped with the knowledge to identify and prevent hazing. Throughout the academic year, APSU further promotes awareness through campus-wide hazing prevention initiatives and events such as These Hands Don’t Haze and Stop Campus Hazing Week, emphasizing the university’s ongoing commitment to a safe and respectful student experience.
