Awards Eligibility & Criteria
Above and Beyond for Administrative Support
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:

Be a current Division of Student Affairs employee.

Completed the six month probationary period.
-
Previous award winners from the past two years are ineligible for the award.
Criteria:
-
Provides exceptional service and/or support “above and beyond” normal job requirements which contributes to the success of the department’s work and to the APSU community.
-
Exhibits creativity in accomplishing tasks.
-
Exhibits excellence in performing job responsibilities.
-
Consistently is a team player within the department and the division.
-
Contributes to the direct or indirect impact on the development of students and/or student groups by promoting an environment that encourages student success.
-
Makes a direct and meaningful impact this academic year.
New Professional of the Year
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:

Be a current Division of Student Affairs employee.

Be a full-time employee.
-
Completed the six month probationary period.
-
Previous award winners from the past two years are ineligible for the award.
Criteria:

Takes initiative to improve areas in their department, division and/or university.
-
Displays dedication and commitment within their role and department at the university.
-
A team player within the department and division.
-
Contributes to the direct or indirect impact on the development of students and/or student groups by promoting an environment that encourages student success.

Makes a direct and meaningful impact this academic year.
Hidden Hero of the Year
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:

Be a current Division of Student Affairs employee.

Be a full-time employee.
-
Completed the six month probationary period.
-
Previous award winners from the past two years are ineligible for the award.
Criteria:

Takes initiative to support students, student organizations, the department, and/or the division with no tangible benefits for doing so.

Demonstrates dedication and commitment within their role and department at the university as shown through being resourceful, approachable and trustworthy.

A team player within the department and division.

Contributes to the direct or indirect impact on the development of students by promoting an environment that encourages student success.

Makes a direct and meaningful impact this academic year.
Commitment to a Community of Belonging Award
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:

Be a current Division of Student Affairs employee.

Completed the six month probationary period.

Criteria:
The individual or team/department demonstrates the following:

Education – Seeks to educate students, faculty and staff about topics related to community belonging through informal and formal opportunities.

Dialogue - Actively engages in meaningful conversations about social awareness and justice with students, faculty and staff through formal and informal opportunities.

Collaboration – Actively works with others in the Division of Student Affairs and the campus community to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for students, faculty and staff.

Advocacy – Champions the needs and voices of all individuals to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where students, faculty and staff can thrive.

Student Affairs Professional of the Year
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:

Be a current Division of Student Affairs employee.

Be a full-time employee.

Completed the six month probationary period.

Criteria:

Demonstrates a clear vision that significantly contributes to the organization’s success.

Exhibits the values of the Division of Student Affairs.

Motivates team members to achieve their best by fostering a supportive and empowering environment.

Effectively addresses challenges and implements solutions that improve processes, outcomes or team culture.
Student Affairs Program of the Year
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:

Be a current Division of Student Affairs employee, office or team.
Criteria:
-
Supports current issues and interests of students and/or staff.
-
Provides a quality program/initiative with innovative ideas and goals.
-
Demonstrates a cutting-edge style, a new initiative, and/or a new spin on an old program/initiative.
-
Goes above and beyond expectations in the planning and delivery of a program/initiative.
Student Affairs Department of the Year
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:
-
Be a current Division of Student Affairs employee, office or team.
-
Be a group of members representing multiple offices, departments and/or reporting lines.
Criteria:
-
Collaborated with individuals outside of their office, department, and/or reporting line to achieve a shared goal and outcome.
-
Demonstrated outstanding performances and results due to group achievement/collaboration. Examples may include delivering exceptional customer service, cost savings, time savings, creative ideas, maintaining high safety records, combining talents of traditionally separate units, actively demonstrating by example a willingness to encourage teamwork in the workplace, developing innovative programming, etc.

Demonstrated cooperation, collaboration and open communication to complete a project or achieve a goal.

Delivered a significant benefit or value to a department, division, or the university as a whole.
-
Worked toward a common goal while being supportive and motivational of each other.
Student Experience Champion of the Month
Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:
-
Nominator must be a current Division of Student Affairs employee.
-
Nominations should be based on programming within the current calendar year from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31.
-
Nominations may be for an non-Student Affairs individual staff or faculty member or a non-Student Affairs department connected through a program/initiative.
-
Program or initiative must have taken place within the current calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec. 31).
-
Nominee must be:
-
An individual staff or faculty member outside of Student Affairs, or
-
A department outside of Student Affairs that collaborated on a student-focused initiative or program.
-
Criteria:

Partnership Building
-
Built and sustained strong partnerships with the Division of Student Affairs. The nominee has consistently collaborated with Student Affairs through co-sponsored programs, regular strategy meetings, and cross-departmental initiatives.

Approach to Work
-
Demonstrates that “how” they work—their methods and collaboration—is as important as “what” they do by emphasizing inclusive planning and iterative feedback processes.

Campus Community Impact

These initiatives have not only enhanced the visibility of support resources but have also fostered a sense of belonging, especially among underrepresented students.

Actively supports and advances the mission of Student Affairs through programs and initiatives that enhance student learning and development.
