2017 - 2018 Submission Guidelines
Our journal publishes material from undergraduate and graduate students across the nation. We will also consider submissions from members of the Austin Peay State University community. The Red Mud Review only accepts online submissions. Submissions for the 2018 issue will open on December 1, 2017. We do not accept previously published work.
This year, Red Mud Review is doing a Tennessee special issue, and is including high school students in publication.
- Poetry: We will consider up to six poems. Please, format and submit the poems as a
- Prose: We will consider fiction, essays, creative non-fiction, and flash prose submissions. Contributors may submit up to three prose pieces for consideration. Submissions should not be longer than 5,000 words per piece.
- Drama: We will consider plays that are 10 pages or less in length. Playwrights may submit up to three plays or monologues for consideration.
- Visual Art: All two-dimensional work is welcome. Three-dimensional work should be photographed and submitted on slides. Please, include the title of each piece and the medium used. Artists may submit between six and ten visual pieces for consideration.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but we do request that contributors include if the piece is a simultaneous submission in their cover letter. If the work is published elsewhere, we ask contributors to notify the Red Mud Review editor of the work's acceptance as soon as possible.
For all genres, the cover letter should contain a list of the pieces included in the submission along with a brief contributor biography.
