Why Study Homeland Security

Students interested in law, law enforcement, courts, corrections, and other criminal justice related topics would be an ideal fit for the program in the criminal justice department.

Criminal Justice provides students opportunities to examine the field from an academic perspective coupled with practical applications.  The degree program is fully available to students through the Clarksville Campus, as well as the Fort Campbell Campus.  Students are free to choose a minor of interest to compliment criminal justice studies. The Department of Criminal Justice prides itself on providing students a balanced and complete education. We are also proud to assist our nation’s military personnel and veterans obtain their educational goals.

APSU’s Criminal Justice program leverages the knowledge, research proficiency, and professional experiences of APSU faculty and military officials from Ft. Campbell. Our faculty possess expertise in the traditional scholarly fields of criminology, political science, sociology, law, and psychology. These disciplines contribute to the intellectual basis for criminal justice as an academic field.

The BS in Criminal Justice degree can be completed online, in person on campus, or as a combination of the two modalities.  We offer our online classes in an 8-week format, and our on-campus classes in the traditional 16-week format. 

The Department of Criminal Justice sponsors the Phi Kappa Chapter of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society, which recognizes the academic excellence of Criminal Justice students.  The goals of the APSU Phi Kappa Chapter are to honor and promote academic excellence, community service, educational leadership, and unity.
