The Gov Says is Austin Peay State University’s most critical mass email channel, reserved for urgent, time-sensitive communications that affect the entire campus community. Use this channel only when immediate awareness or action is required by all students and/or employees.
What Belongs in The Gov Says?
Messages sent through The Gov Says should meet all of the following criteria:

Urgency: Requires immediate attention or action.

Impact: Affects the entire campus or a major segment of the university community.

Institutional Priority: Relates to safety, operations, major policy changes, or officially designated signature events.
Examples of appropriate content:
- Campus closures or delays (e.g., weather, emergencies)
- Safety alerts and security notifications
- Major, time-sensitive policy or operational announcements
- Presidential communications to the campus community
- Official, large-scale university events (e.g., commencement)
Not appropriate:
- Routine event promotion
- Departmental updates
- General reminders or non-urgent news

Sender Eligibility: Only designated university officials, PR & Marketing staff, or those with written authorization may request this channel.
How to Request a Gov Says Email
