STEP 1 - Get your form

The "Student Recital Request and Approval Process" form can be found here. You may either fill the PDF form out electronically and then print it out, or print out the form and fill it out by hand.

STEP 2 - Select your recital date with the Music Dept. Office

Watch for emails from the Music Department Office for dates to visit the Music Dept. office to select your recital, rehearsal and hearing. These will be coordinated through the Music Department Office ONLY.

Each student will be granted a 45 min. warm up period in the concert hall. The concert hall will open 15 min. before the recital. (ie. for a 5:30 p.m. recital the student will have access at 4:30 p.m.; for a 7:30 p.m. recital the student will have access at 6:30 p.m.).

*Junior Recitals are at 5:30 p.m. (these may not be over 60 min in total length to allow for the teardown and setup of the next recital)
*Senior Recitals are at 7:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. on Sundays.
*Graduate Recitals are at 7:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. on Sundays.

STEP 3 - Select your recital hearing date with the Music Dept. Office

Recital hearings take place at 12:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Your hearing is required to be at least 3 weeks before your recital date. Location Options (if available): Band Room (152), Choral Room (147), Opera Dance (130) or Concert Hall (available for piano majors and graduate students only).

STEP 4 - Find your dress rehearsal date with the Music Dept. Office

Each student is allotted one (1) two-hour dress Rehearsal time slot. This may be rescheduled with a 36-hour notice and with permission from the Music Dept. Office. If you are a no-show to your rehearsal you will not be able to make it up.

Available Times for dress rehearsals are Mon-Fri:

Please note that you need to be out of the Concert Hall by the end of your rehearsal time as we have a limited time to set up for the next rehearsal or event.

STEP 5 - Confirm all dates and times with your Applied Instructor and Accompanist and have them sign your form.

STEP 6 - Turn in signed and completed form to the Music Dept. office

Your recital, rehearsal and hearing are NOT finalized until this form is returned to the office with all signatures. You will receive an email confirming your request or letting you know if there are any issues. If there is a conflict with your recital or rehearsal it is your responsibility to contact your applied teacher, accompanist, and the Music Dept. office to find a new date and time.

Cancellation

A recital may only be canceled or moved within the first two (2) full weeks of the semester in which a recital is to be given. After this time a recital may not be canceled without the permission from the Chair of the Department. Cancellation and rescheduling may result in the student incurring a monetary penalty (to cover the cost of personnel).

If a recital is canceled after the second full week of the semester in which the recital is to be given and needs to be rescheduled, the recital will need to be moved to a date in the following semester if a date is available.
