Academic Assessment Committee
Membership:
The Academic Assessment Committee will be comprised of:
- 2 committee co-chairs and 1 committee co-chair elect (recommended by the Provost)
- 1 College Dean appointed by the Provost
- 1 Department Chair appointed by the Provost
- 11 Faculty appointees by Faculty Senate representing each academic college and library
- Committee Advisors: Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment
- Ex-Officio Members:
- Provost
- Faculty Senate President
- Student Government Association Representative
Terms of Service:
Members of the committee are appointed for three-year renewable terms. There are no limits on reappointment.
Description:
The committee will support the University’s commitment in establishing outcomes assessment to enhance and improve student learning in academic programs. To accomplish this charge, the committee provides oversight, guidelines and resources for program-level implementation of assessment and evaluation activities. The committee reviews programmatic learning outcomes progress and relevant assessment metrics for academic programs and provides feedback where necessary to support a culture of ongoing improvement of quality programs. The committee’s work supports activities pertaining to SACSCOC standards of student achievement (8.2a) and does not supplant the work of existing committees with a targeted role in assessment (e.g., General Education Committee) or the work of discipline-specific accreditation or program review committees. The chairs and/or co-chairs of this committee are responsible for preparing documents and/or presentations for the pre-semester calendar. This committee may convene during August.
