Biology, B.S.

The Department of Biology at Austin Peay State University prepares students for careers across the life sciences through a broad, rigorous curriculum designed to build both scientific knowledge and practical skills. Whether you're headed to graduate school, medical school, or directly into the workforce, the Biology program gives you the foundation to succeed.

Degree Options

Austin Peay offers several paths within the Biology program. The Biology major gives students a broad survey across biology, whereas the Medical, Cellular, and Molecular Biology and the Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology concentrations allow students to focus on specific areas of biology, with options to match their interests and career goals. The Pre-Professional Health concentration provides students wanting to attend a professional health program (medical, dental, pharmacy, physician's assistant, physical therapy, etc.) to study biology while also taking pre-requisite coursework to meet their post-bachelors degree goals. The Biology minor allows students who are majoring in other areas to gain a foundation of biology knowledge.
