Institute for National Security and Military Studies
The Institute for National Security and Military Studies (INSMS) at APSU is the first institute of its kind in the Southeastern U.S., mandated to foster innovative education, faculty research, and community outreach in national security and military affairs. Positioned strategically near Fort Campbell and with a dedicated facility on base, INSMS offers undergraduate and graduate pathways, including the Bachelor’s in National Security Studies with concentrations in Intelligence, Corporate Security, or GIS. The institute enhances students’ global perspectives and professional preparedness through international partnerships, internships, and speaker series, such as participation in APSU Week at IIPE in Serbia.
Speech‑Language and Swallowing Community Clinic
The APSU Speech-Language & Swallowing Community Clinic supports individuals across the lifespan who experience communication or swallowing disorders—from children with developmental delays to adults recovering from stroke or brain injury—with free, supervised services. Student clinicians in the Speech-Language Pathology graduate program, under ASHA-certified faculty supervision, deliver personalized assessment and intervention focused on empowering everyday communication and social participation. Housed in a state-of-the-art, 2,000 sq ft facility (opened in 2022), the clinic also provides training in advanced tools like eye-tracking and hosts initiatives like aphasia portrait projects.
Psychological Science and Counseling Community Clinic
The APSU Psychological Science & Counseling Clinic delivers affordable, evidence-based mental health services to the Clarksville community, including counseling and psychological assessment for individuals, families, and groups. Serving as a training ground for graduate students in counseling psychology and related programs, the clinic offers treatments for mood, trauma, anxiety, neurodevelopmental concerns, and vocational suitability, guided by experienced faculty supervisors. It emphasizes quality behavioral health care while preparing students to address real-world needs through practical experience in assessment and therapeutic modalities.
