Explore your opportunities

If you are looking to challenge yourself as a leader, there are many ways to do so at Austin Peay State University. From performing individual research with the Office of Student Research and Innovation to the one-on-one meetings with visiting artists under the Center for Excellence in the Creative Arts, becoming a leader at Austin Peay isn't just a potential. It's a given.

It’s not enough to know leadership theory and skills.

You have to put them into practice. In PELP, you’ll learn when to take the helm (and when to let someone else) through involvement on campus, abroad, in your academic department and in the community.

Check out all PELP has to offer here.

You could climb the corporate ladder.

But if you’d rather crawl, kayak, and wade your way to a career in the great outdoors, you’ve come to the right place. The Center of Excellence for Field Biology gives you the chance to research issues like water quality, bat-killing fungus and the environmental impact of industry. You’ll spend hours in the lab, but you’ll spend most of your time outside, studying living things and their relationships to the environment.

Research isn’t just for professors and graduate students.

Undergraduates like you are researchers, too.

It’s how questions are answered, problems are solved and ideas are executed. It’s research and creative activity. And if you’re up for the challenge, our Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) will help you make it happen.

Engage with STEM faculty and staff.

Starting with your first semester, you’ll join a small seminar-style course, led by a STEM faculty member and upper-division student, that will provide research opportunities other freshmen don’t get.
