Dr. Tim Self serves as an Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management at Austin Peay State University. Prior to his tenure at APSU, he held a similar role at The William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dr. Self's academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Purdue University, a Master's degree from the University of Alabama, and a Bachelor's degree from California State University, Chico.

Before venturing into academia, Dr. Self garnered extensive industry experience. He worked in recruitment in Atlanta, GA, collaborating with Fortune 500 companies, and gained hands-on experience in the hospitality sector. This includes a tenure as a front office manager at Radisson Hotels in Shanghai, China, and roles in various restaurants and hotels.

Dr. Self specializes in research focused on employee attraction and retention within the hospitality industry. His scholarly contributions are published in esteemed journals such as the Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, The Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, The International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, International Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Administration, Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality & Tourism, and the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education.

An active participant in the academic community, he is a member of the International Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (I-CHRIE). Additionally, Dr. Self holds the distinction of being a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE), a certification awarded by the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
