How to Apply for VA Education Benefits at APSU

Using VA education benefits at APSU requires completing steps with both the VA and our office. The process depends on your situation — whether you've used VA benefits before and, if so, where.

Select the option below that describes you to find the right checklist.

Which situation describes you?

I have never used VA education benefits at any school

You will apply with the VA, submit supporting documents to our office, and complete a few APSU-specific steps before your first term. The process takes some time — start as early as possible before your intended enrollment date.

First-Time Applicants

I used VA benefits at a previous school and am now enrolling at APSU

You do not need to re-apply with the VA. Instead, you change your school of record using a shorter form completed through our office. You will need your Certificate of Eligibility or VA award letter.

Transfer Students

I have used VA benefits at APSU before and am re-enrolling

Your benefit stays active — you do not re-apply. You re-certify your enrollment with our office each term after registering for classes.

Continuing & Returning Students

I am taking courses at APSU as a guest student, or I am an APSU student taking courses at another school

Enrollment at more than one institution requires coordination between both schools' VA certifying officials. The steps depend on which school is your primary institution.
