Graduate School Visitations
TRIO SSS students have the opportunity to visit graduate schools located geographically near APSU. In the past, students have visited graduate schools at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, University of Memphis, Tennessee State University, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. Students have the opportunity to tour the campus with a qualified campus guide, meet with a representative from the graduate school, enjoy the student flow and activities of the university center, and visit resource centers/museums unique to the individual campus.
Additionally, TRIO SSS holds Grad Talk Live. This event allows students to connect with a representative from their program and school of interest. Grad Talk Live is flexible, and works with the schedules of TRIO SSS students and the school representative. Sessions typically last about an hour, depending on the information and questions presented at the time.
Additionally, each summer, TRIO SSS attends the SAEOPP/McNair Research Scholars Conference in Atlanta, GA. It is a great opportunity for students to learn more about applying for graduate schools, research, and meeting both peers and graduate administration.
TRIO SSS students are invited to make individual requests for a campus visitation to the Academic Coach.
