Why the Technical and Professional Writing Certificate
The Technical and Professional Writing Certificate is for writers who want to learn new subjects and explain the information to those who need it and for technical and scientific experts who need to communicate their subject matter.
Courses in technical and professional writing develop the interpersonal and technological skills necessary for a variety of careers and community engagement. Students will analyze effective methods of research, communication, and collaboration.
Technical writers design and compose documents for consumers who use information and products created by subject matter experts. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the number of jobs in technical writing and related fields will grow on pace with the expanding career field; job growth from 2024 until 2033 meets the national average of all occupations and is higher than related fields in media and communication.
Our graduates work in well paid industries including software, defense, healthcare, and gaming. They create and manage instructions, proposals, records, databases, and management plans.
