Message from the President

The 2022-23 General Appropriations Act passed by both chambers of the 112th Tennessee General Assembly includes a proposed budget for FY23 of a 4% salary pool to be distributed at the discretion of the University. Upon the recommendation of the Salary Allocation Committee, I am pleased to announce a 3% salary increase, or $2,400, whichever is greater, for all university employees effective July 1, 2022, subject to the eligibility requirements listed below.

This year’s salary increase is not tied to merit and represents our efforts to acknowledge the tremendous work of our employees with more focused increases directed to faculty and staff based on income. This is the second consecutive year that a general increase has been implemented for all employees who meet the eligibility criteria. Performance, however, is a consideration related to eligibility for the salary increase. All salary increases are subject to a satisfactory performance evaluation for the 2021 calendar year. Some additional funds may be allocated for market and/or special adjustments.

With limited exceptions as explained below, employees who were on the payroll on Dec. 31, 2021, and remain on the payroll as active employees as of June 30, 2022, will receive the salary increase. Exceptions include:

  • Employees who are currently on a Performance Improvement Plan or who have received disciplinary action during the current evaluation cycle. These employees are not eligible for the bonus or salary increase.
  • Employees hired after Dec. 31, 2021. These individuals are not eligible for the bonus or salary increase.

The $2,400 minimum salary increase will be prorated for part-time, regular employees. For example, a half-time regular employee will receive an increase of 3% or $1,200, whichever is greater.

Thank you for your continued commitment to APSU! I am thankful for the extraordinary efforts of our faculty and staff.

Mike Licari

APSU President
