Homecoming Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about APSU Homecoming Week.

Homecoming Basics

When is APSU Homecoming 2026?

Homecoming Week runs Monday, September 28 through Saturday, October 3, 2026. See the full Homecoming schedule of events for the day-by-day lineup.

What is this year's Homecoming theme?

The 2026 theme is Govcoming: Stream the Tradition.

Who can attend Homecoming events?

Everyone is welcome — students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, and the Clarksville community. Most Homecoming Week events are free and open to all.

Are events family-friendly? Can I bring my kids?

Most Homecoming Week events are family and kid-friendly. A couple of exceptions to keep in mind: the Step Show is a late-night event, and the Movie Night film is selected by students — families should check the movie selection in advance and decide if it is appropriate for their children.

Parking and Getting to Campus

Where do I park for Homecoming events?

Campus parking lots are open for events held after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and throughout the day on Saturdays.

Please avoid Silver (Resident Parking) designated zones and handicapped spaces unless you hold the appropriate permit.

View the Campus Parking Map for lot locations.

For questions, call the Parking Office at 931-221-7275.

Is parking different on parade day or game day?

On parade day, roads along the parade route will close 15 minutes before the parade begins and reopen once the parade has passed — plan your arrival accordingly.

See the Homecoming Parade page for the full route.

For questions, call the Parking Office at 931-221-7275.

Tickets and Registration

Which events are free and which are ticketed?

Most Homecoming events are free. Two community events require tickets: the Step Show and the football game.

Alumni events typically require an RSVP and have an associated cost — see the Homecoming alumni events page for details.

Step Show tickets are $15 for alumni and community members, $10 for students. Prices increase at the door.

How do I RSVP for alumni events?

Alumni event registration is handled on the APSU Alumni website. See the Homecoming alumni events page for the full list and RSVP links.

Do I need to register to watch the parade?

No. Registration is only required if your group wants to enter the parade with a float, vehicle, or walking group. Anyone can watch for free along the route.

The Parade

What time is the parade and where does it go?

The parade steps off Saturday, October 3 at 11 a.m. and travels from Eighth Street to College Street, Drane Street, Marion Street, and back to Eighth. See the Homecoming Parade page for the route map.

Where are the best places to watch the parade?

Recommended viewing spots include Browning Lawn, in front of Claxton, the Housing Quad, Spirit Rock, in front of the Foy, and the Memorial Health Outdoor Stage. Details are on the Homecoming Parade page.

How do I enter a float or walking group?

Schools and non-political, nonprofit organizations may enter. Parade registration closes Monday, September 21 at noon. See how to enter on the Get Involved page.

For Students and Organizations

How do I run for Homecoming Court?

Applications for the 2026 Homecoming Court are open to eligible students and close September 9. Requirements and how to apply are on the Homecoming Court page.

How do I vote for Homecoming Court?

Students receive an email with the list of candidates and a link to vote. Voting is open September 14–27, 2026, until 11:59 p.m. The Court is announced at the Bonfire on September 28.

How does my organization compete for the Red Bowl?

Registered student organizations can compete in week-long events for the Homecoming Red Bowl. Organizations must register by September 25, 2026. Details are on the Get Involved page.

Is there funding to help build a float?

Yes. The Department of Student Life & Engagement reimburses up to $500 for float entries and $100 for non-float entries. See the Get Involved page.

Where do I get the free Homecoming t-shirt?

SGA will pass out in the MUC Plaza on Monday, September 28th from 11-1 or until they run out.

Accessibility

What accessibility options are available at Homecoming events?

Most Homecoming events are held in easily accessible locations across campus. The one exception to be aware of is the Bonfire — the Governor's Bowl has uneven, sloped terrain. Guests who need a more accessible viewing option can watch from Marion Street, the closest sidewalk to the bonfire site, or approach from the Dunn Center side of the bowl, which has a gentler grade. For specific questions, contact the Department of Student Life & Engagement.

How do I request an accommodation?

Email accommodation requests to homecoming@apsu.edu

Weather

What happens if an event is rained out?

Most Homecoming Week events are held indoors and will proceed regardless of weather. The Parade and Bonfire may be cancelled in the event of storms — follow APSU Student Life & Engagement on social media for announcements. If Movie Night moves due to rain, it will be held in Clement Auditorium.
