Wilbur N. Daniel Center FAQ

The Wilbur N. Daniel Center will open as APSU's central hub for community belonging. The renovated center will provide a welcoming space that supports connection, leadership, engagement, educational programming, and student success for all students while continuing to honor the legacy of Dr. Wilbur N. Daniel.

No. The center is not closing. It is being renovated and enhanced to better serve students and expand its role as the university's primary space for community belonging and engagement.

As part of this new model, the Latino Cultural Center, the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center, and ANTS will no longer operate as separate physical centers. Instead, the Wilbur N. Daniel Center will serve as the university's central campus hub for community belonging, bringing programs, resources, and engagement opportunities together in one shared space. Additionally, a new commuter student lounge is being developed as well. 

Yes. Students can continue to expect educational programs, heritage celebrations, leadership opportunities, and community-building events. Programming will continue to reflect the university's commitment to fostering belonging while honoring the history and legacy of the center.

Yes. This change reflects a shift in how services are delivered, not a reduction in the university's commitment to students. Programs, educational opportunities, celebrations, and resources that foster community and belonging will continue through the Wilbur N. Daniel Center and the Division of Student Affairs.

Yes. Dr. Wilbur N. Daniel's legacy remains an important part of Austin Peay State University's history. The center will continue to bear his name and celebrate his lasting contributions to the university and generations of APSU students. 

The Wilbur N. Daniel Center will be open to all APSU students. The goal is to provide a welcoming environment where every student can connect, engage, learn, and build community while preserving the center's historical significance.

Yes. Student organizations will continue to have opportunities to reserve spaces, host events, and collaborate with Student Affairs in the center.

The Wilbur N. Daniel Center will now serve as the primary campus hub for community belonging in place of multiple centers. It is designed to bring all students together through shared experiences, educational programming, leadership opportunities, and meaningful engagement while supporting the needs of the campus community. 

The university anticipates reopening the renovated Wilbur N. Daniel Center during the Fall 2026 semester. Updates will be shared as construction progresses.
