Student Organization for Academic Research
The Student Organization for Academic Research (SOAR) is a university-wide student organization dedicated to promoting student engagement in research, scholarship, creativity, and innovation across all academic disciplines at Austin Peay State University.
Open to undergraduate and graduate students from every college, SOAR provides opportunities for students to explore research, connect with peers and faculty mentors, develop scholarly skills, and gain valuable experience that can enhance career readiness.
What SOAR Does

Host monthly brown-bag discussion sessions featuring student, faculty, and guest presentations.

Provide research training workshops covering topics such as:

Literature reviews

Research design

Data collection

Data analysis

Academic writing

Conference presentations

Create and publish a student scholarly newsletter highlighting research, creative activities, awards, publications, and presentations by APSU students.

Support networking and collaboration among students interested in research from all academic disciplines.

Offer opportunities to brainstorm new research and creative projects.

Increase awareness of undergraduate and graduate research opportunities available at APSU.

Promote student participation in conferences, symposiums, grant opportunities, and scholarly events.
